Lightweight luggage for travel?
I am (hopefully) traveling to Europe this summer for my second time. It's 3 weeks, and our tour has a 35 lb weight limit (so we can have room to bring back things, instruments and other equipment). What brands / styles are good for lightweight, easy to use luggage? Cost is a factor, but so is quality.
If you don't need a hard-side back with wheels, the lightest bag is a duffel bag. I bought a large Mountainsmith duffel bag for an extra bag and it weighs less than 3 pounds. The disadvantage is not having wheels, but I won't have to drag it all over the airport like I do my carry-on bag so it doesn't really matter. Plus you can pack a lot of fluffy items in there and have plenty of room. Most Wheeled Suitcase weigh from 11-15 pounds that hold as much as that duffel bag.
